Either this or they rushed the developers to launch the game. I believe that EA Games tried to cut down costs with Harry Potter and the Goblet of Fire and in order to do that, they created a simplified game that would run on the least powerful console they aimed and used that for all the other platforms.

If I were to develop the game, I would have chosen to make a challenge featuring the sneaking into the prefect’s bathroom and used the Prefect’s bathroom and the egg opening as a cutscene. For instance, Harry doesn’t go to the Prefect’s bathroom alone, but with Ron and Hermione, and clumsily they drop the egg with the clue to the Triwizard Challenge in the sewage so they have to go after it. But, in Harry Potter and the Goblet of Fire, some of the scenarios are silly, out of place and inaccurate to the book story. In previous Harry Potter games, the actions, challenges, exploration and quests were fun and seemed meaningful and somewhat realistic. The game has more of an arcade feel, than a story-driven game. We no longer have an open world and there is very little interaction with NPCs, which for the most part are absent from the game. We still have beans, wizard cards and spells, but their implementation is very different. It seems the developers tried to combine elements from previous games with some new ideas, but the end result is not that exciting.
